Spicewood House

This house for a young couple is located on a five acre parcel in the Texas Hill Country. Extensive stone was used to create weighted volumes of mass that are then delicately stitched together with glass, blurring the division between interior and exterior. A continuous concrete header located at the top of these stone boxes spans between steel columns, supporting the roof above and serving as the support for all punched openings and glass curtain walls below. The large, linear roof provides ample surface for rain water harvest, the only supply of water for the house.
